Christopher Back

Christopher Back

Co-Founder/CEO

Christopher Back is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of AvDoc and a professional commercial pilot based in Australia. He currently flies multi-crew turbine aircraft on scheduled regional passenger services, operating under both IFR and VFR across diverse and often challenging environments.

Through his day-to-day flying, Christopher has experienced firsthand how difficult CASA legislation and Manuals of Standards can be to navigate, interpret, and apply in real operational settings. This operational challenge became the driving force behind AvDoc.

Christopher's connection to aviation began early—he started flying around the age of eight through family access to an aircraft and continued flying throughout his childhood. After finishing high school, he went straight into full-time flight training, turning a lifelong passion for aviation into a professional career.

This background, combined with real-world operational experience, led him to co-found AvDoc with a clear mission: to make CASA regulations clearer, faster to search, and easier to understand for the entire aviation industry, helping aviation professionals spend less time searching legislation and more time operating safely.

His aviation journey began in childhood, fueled by endless hours on flight simulators and the hands-on mechanics of building and flying RC planes and helicopters. This early fascination evolved into a lifelong pursuit. He took his first official flying lesson in the breathtaking alpine landscape of Wanaka, New Zealand, ultimately earning his Private Pilot License (PPL) while exploring the dramatic coasts and mountains of the South Island.

His commitment to continuous learning and skill development is evident in his pursuit of advanced qualifications, including a coveted tailwheel endorsement. He holds New Zealand PPL and Australian PPL. This blend of deep technical knowledge and genuine, hands-on pilot experience is what he channels into making AvDoc an indispensable tool for the aviation community.
